Land Experiences

Rennell Sound

Chaahluu Kaahlii / Rennel Sound is the largest sound on the west coast of Haida Gwaii.  Currents from across the ocean kiss the shores of Haida Gwaii, washing up all kinds of interesting treasure.  This tour will take you to rugged coastlines, beautiful crescent beaches and excellent beachcombing along the shoreline.

Yakoun Lake

Take a trip to Yakoun Lake located between Daajing Giids / Queen Charlotte and Chaahluu Kaahlii / Rennell Sound, approximately 20 km northwest of Daajing Giids / Queen Charlotte, a popular freshwater destination with a beautiful beach and a fabulous hike along Bellis Trail.

Sleeping Beauty

Reach for the top as you climb Mount Genevieve through old growth forest to the nose for unobstructed panoramic views of Yakoun Lake, Rennell Sound, Tow Hill and Masset.  The Sleeping Beauty trail is a challenging 2-hour vertical hike with opportunities for stair climbing and rope climbing.  Explore this beautiful landscape, the unique plants and vegetation that call Mt. Genevieve home.

Gray Bay

Diinal GawGa / Gray Bay is a recreational campground with a large beach area. The beach area is gorgeous and, at low tide, the ocean waters recede leaving behind hard packed sand. A wilderness beach location found in the rugged backyard of Moresby Island, which is part of the Haida Gwaii Islands Archipelago.

Join us for an afternoon in the field to explore how this natural resource industry is managed on Haida Gwaii. Haida Gwaii has a total area of 1,018,000 hectares with parks and reserves accounting for 229,000 hectares (22%); tree farm license (TFL) areas, 324,000 hectares (32%); and the remainder, 465,000 hectares (46%) as TSA. The timber supply area is primarily located on the east and west sides of Graham Island, with a smaller portion on northwest Moresby Island.

The Artisan experience showcases the enormous artistic talent of local artists in scenic Graham Island.  We will visit artists' homes, museums, studios, and galleries offering works from jewellers, argillite carvers to potters, painters, weavers and woodworkers.
